CoD: Black Ops Cold War patch notes tease secret rooms in zombies

Another update for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is coming, and Year 2 content for multiplayer and zombies will continue to be released. On April 22, Treyarch released the zombies section of the patch notes, revealing some upcoming secrets for Easter egg hunters.

According to Treyarch’s patch notes, the update will add a new secret location to Zombies. This location will offer more than a dozen rewards and permanent upgrades across all zombie maps, but the total rewards received will vary based on the number of main story missions the player has completed. The developers haven’t hinted at a location, but a zombie outbreak mode could be a possible location, as Treyarch’s massive zombie experience is used for many other Easter egg hunts.

The Year 2 update will also add a new mode to Outbreak called Outbreak Collapse. This variant provides a greater challenge for bursts, as it requires players to continue “increasingly strong waves for 10 minutes” before attempting to escape from a single burst area. The difficulty of the mode also increases every two minutes.

The Abomination special enemy type from Black Ops Cold War’s Forsaken map will be added to Outbreak, and the HVT Abomination will arrive as a new elimination objective type.

For the multiplayer side, the patch notes haven’t been released yet, but the jungle from 2010’s Call of Duty: Black Ops has been announced as the next map. There will also be cosmetic store bundles and two new weapons arriving in Black Ops Cold War.

This year 2’s content is scheduled to arrive on April 27 with Call of Duty Season 3 of Vanguard and Warzone. Here’s everything we know about the Season 3 Secret Weapons update, which includes events centered around Godzilla and Kong.
