Halo Infinite Season 2 patch notes revealed for huge update

It’s been a big week for Halo Infinite, with the highly anticipated season 2 of the sci-fi shooter: Lone Wolf now updated on console and PC. In addition to adding new maps and modes — including the battle royale-style The Last of Spartans — the update also lists a long list of balance changes, bug fixes, and other improvements to the core experience.

The full patch notes are out now, shared on the Halo support site, below. First, melee damage in multiplayer and campaign has been reduced by 10% across the board. Specifically, this change reduces Mangler’s lethality, as it now requires two knockdowns instead of one. Battle Rifles now have more melee damage in ranked multiplayer.

Meanwhile, the Marauder has seen its base shot so much that it can now be used for two-shot kills. Gear-wise, Drop Wall is now stronger and faster to deploy, while Overshield now provides an extra half-shield.

The vehicle has also seen some changes, with adjustments to the vehicle’s tire position and suspension improving the Warthog’s handling on uneven terrain. Meanwhile, Chopper can now kill all vehicles in one hit except Scorpion and Wraith. Banshee sees its mobility and weapon damage increased.

Developer 343 has also tweaked the player’s mobility, so that the speed gained by sliding into the ramp is reduced proportionally to the height of the fall. Meanwhile, Jumping saw an update that included collision fixes on all multiplayer maps.

This is just a very, very small sample of what’s new in Season 2: Lone Wolf. Be sure to read GameSpot’s expanded Halo Infinite: Season 2 Lone Wolves coverage for more info, and check out the full patch notes below. Note that these minor changes are in addition to the new free content available in Season 2, including new maps and Microsoft’s iconic mascot, Clippy.

  • Melee damage in multiplayer and campaign has been reduced by 10%.
    • In multiplayer, this change to melee damage makes Mangler a 2-knockdown instead of 1-knockdown.

      • This change was made to preserve the battle rifle’s two burst defeats after the global melee reduction.
  • Other changes to melee will also result in the following improvements to multiplayer:
    • Compared to season 1, melee kills for “traded” will now occur more frequently.
    • Improved capturing of enemies during melee lunges.
    • Improved enemy collision immediately after melee combat.

meat grinder

  • In addition to the melee damage changes mentioned above, the following changes have been made to Mangler in multiplayer:
    • Reduced starting reserve ammo from 24 to 16.
    • Maximum ammo capacity reduced from 56 to 40.

    • Banshees can now move slower and faster than before, including when turning.
    • Weapons cool down faster and deal more damage.

    • Traversal on smooth ground.
    • Fixed players standing on out-of-bounds rock ledges.
    • Removed or adjusted collision on small props and thin ledges.

  • Grabbing a fusion coil through a throwing wall will no longer drag the throwing wall towards the player.
  • Bullet decals now display correctly when firing at surfaces from odd angles.
  • Various power weapons and turrets now fit better in the Razorback’s rear storage area.
  • Debris from a damaged or destroyed vehicle will no longer return to its pre-damage appearance.
  • Powered weapons (such as skewers or rocket launchers) will no longer deal bonus damage when fired at vehicle windshields.
  • Meleeing an enemy and then immediately using a repeller on them will now knock back the enemy the expected amount, rather than a shorter knockback.
  • Mounting on the back of an enemy ghost or scorpion and then planting a grenade will now kill the driver.

  • The M41 SPNKR can now fire faster when picked up. Switching to the M41 SPNKR, zooming in and firing is also slightly faster.

personal computer

  • Improved stability throughout the Halo Infinite experience. Players should expect to see fewer crashes and hangs, especially on PC.
    • If you experience a crash after an update, please file a ticket with Halo Support. The key details included in the incident ticket are:
      • Step-by-step instructions on what’s causing the crash. The more specific the better!
      • Verify that the operating system (OS) of the console/PC is up to date.
      • If possible, please provide a video or screenshot of the moment that caused the crash.
      • For PC crashes:
        • Make sure your PC’s graphics drivers are up to date.
        • Attach the latest DxDiag file. To create a DxDiag file, type “dxdiag” in the Start menu search bar, press Enter, and click Save All Information when the DirectX Diagnostic Tool pops up.
        • Includes problem reports from the Control Panel application. To find it, open the control panel and enter “problem reporting” in the search bar. Click View All Problem Reports and find the most recent Halo Infinite report. Double-click this Halo Infinite entry, then use the “Copy to Clipboard” button near the bottom of the window. Finally, paste this text into your ticket comments.
  • Improved Video RAM (VRAM) management and various bug fixes for Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) to improve stability and performance on PC.
  • PCs with AMD integrated graphics hardware may experience less graphics corruption.

Affected operations include recharging weapons such as plasma pistols and marauders.

Xbox game console
