Call of Duty: Warzone devs offer update on anti-cheat efforts and promise more updates

Activision promises that Ricochet, Call of Duty’s new anti-cheat software, will continue to get better over time. Raven Software developer Josh Bridge talks about the newly added anti-cheat software for Warzone in a new interview with streamer Tyler “TeepP” Polchow, saying it’s going well so far, but there’s more to come in terms of stopping cheaters and hackers Much work can be done. Battle Royale game.

Bridge began by saying that having a dedicated team focused solely on anti-cheating was the “biggest shift” in fighting cheaters over the past year.

“Historically, it’s the development team that hears about the cheating and tries to fight and fill the hole. So now there’s a dedicated team – always there – that has the technology, the software, the monitoring, and trying to track it down as quickly as possible. And it’s been Get better,” Bridge said (via Charlie Intel).

The developers went on to say that Activision can’t always communicate transparently about its anti-cheat efforts because that would give cheaters the upper hand. But overall, Bridge said, Ricochet will “continue to grow and get better and better.”

In the last week alone, Ricochet helped ban more than 90,000 Call of Duty accounts. Warzone is one of the biggest games out there, and because of its size, scale, and free-to-play nature, it will likely always have some cheating element to it.

The Ricochet ant cheat is released in 2021 for Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone. Ricochet’s kernel-level drivers are implemented on PCs, which has been controversial due to privacy concerns and other concerns. For its part, Activision says the software only runs when Warzone starts up, and only looks at Call of Duty-related information, not anything else on your machine.

In other anti-cheat news, the developers of Halo Infinite explain why they don’t use a kernel-level anti-cheat driver for the sci-fi shooter.

Call of Duty: Warzone and Vanguard Season 2 Reloaded is out now, adding more content and updates to both games. Going forward, Snoop Dogg will break into every game as a playable character in April.
