Crusader Kings 3 gets a weird eye patch

There’s now a patch for Crusader Kings III that addresses an important issue with medieval grand strategy games: eyeballs. More specifically, the patch makes the area around the character’s eyes look more natural and human, but there’s more going on under the hood than the eyes see.

In addition to improving the look of the characters’ eyes, Paradox says it reworked the DNA of various historical characters to address some of the issues the game had with rendering their eyes, as well as their children’s. The result is subtle, but pretty good: the characters’ eyes now look warmer — and their faces are more at ease, if you will. You can see the new look of King Rurik ‘Troublemaker’ in Garðaríki in the image above.

However, improved eyeballs and eyeball DNA aren’t the only improvements in the latest Crusader Kings patch. Version 1.5.0.2 also added some missing Spanish, Korean, and Russian localizations, and removed some debug text that was already present in the game.

It also fixes some bugs, such as a bug that prevented players from unpausing the game when petitioning a lord (hey, this might take a while – life has to go on, right?). In this regard, a bug that caused the game to show you when petitioning your lord in your own court has also been corrected, as has a bug related to artifact-related murder plans and a soft lock that could happen if you died in court Corrected incidents (such as an ill-advised duel with an ambitious veteran).

Finally, the team also fixed a bug that locked the UI when you tried to adopt a new court language. Pooh!
