Cyberpunk 2077’s best players in a year are a fraction of what it was at its peak

The latest Cyberpunk 2077 player count is good news for the RPG, as it rose this weekend to its highest level in more than a year, thanks to the announcement and release of the game’s next-gen 1.5 major patch. Still, it’s only 4.5% of Cyberpunk 2077’s peak concurrent player count since its release.

Back in December 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 became the first single-player game on Steam with more than 1 million concurrent players — despite being knocked down to peak Steam player count by Lost in fifth place last week ark.

The concurrent player record remains at 1,054,388, but those players quickly quit Cyberpunk 2077 because they either finished it or got sick of it. Just a month later, in January 2021, the game has less than 50,000 players, and it’s falling. Now, thanks to news of Patch 1.5, Cyberpunk is finally approaching those numbers again, hitting 48,202 players in the past 24 hours — or 4.5% of its record concurrent player count.

At the time of writing, this player count does not appear to be a one-off, as Cyberpunk 2077 currently has 47,650 players on Steam — still a small number compared to the million-plus players it released, but for Still impressive for a single-player game that hasn’t added any major DLC a year later.

Many players are hoping that Cyberpunk 2077’s first major update in 2022 will fix some of the issues that have been around since its launch. One thing’s for sure though – it doesn’t have a subway system, so you’ll have to rely on mods to get one.
