Dark Souls will soon be compatible with DnD 5E

Dark Souls: The RPG released a trailer late last year, and today publisher Steamforged Games revealed the first proper details on what you can expect. The game has a full ruleset based on Dungeons & Dragons fifth edition, which means you can play it alone or bring the rules and lessons back to your DnD events.

The core book for Dark Souls: The RPG will be released in Spring 2022. “In this gorgeously illustrated hardcover core book,” the developers said in a press release, “players will find custom character classes, an all-new magic system, and a complete fable full of dark soul creatures. Together, roleplayers Brave the crumbling landscape of Lothric and its countless locations, meeting familiar faces along the way.”

There are no details on the mechanics yet, so I can only speculate with fear of some kind of level drain, simulating losing souls after death. Steamforged, who previously worked on the Resident Evil 2 board game Dark Souls board game, just recently announced another Runescape-compatible 5E RPG game adaptation.

Once Elden Ring’s release date arrives, the new RPG still seems to have something to look forward to.
