Destiny 2’s Witch Queen raid launches March 5

A post on Bungie this week announced that the new raids in Destiny 2’s Witch Queen expansion will kick off on Saturday, March 5 at 10AM PT / 1PM ET. Other than the release date, there is no new information on the raid. However, TWAB promises information about competition mode rules, Bungie rewards, and more – possibly including team names – will be released soon. Before the release of The Witch Queen, there was still some TWAB.

All we know so far is that the raid will take place inside the sunken pyramid ship in the world of Savathun’s Throne. The Bungie website says “adventure inwards and face the ancient dangers of being imprisoned in it,” detailing what the raid was about.

We also don’t know what the power level requirements for raids are. Bungie has detailed changes to the power level cap, which determines how strong players need to be to perform certain activities, for the Witch Queen expansion, but has yet to say what numbers players should expect to be raided – March 5th to be ready. The Deep Stone Crypt team copy of Destiny 2 Beyond Light starts above the Soft cap, and new teams may do so.

All we know about The Witch Queen is the duration of Power, thanks to new details from Bungie. Currently, a player’s strength level – their overall toughness is determined by the level of all their weapons and armor – is capped at 1330, excluding strength bonuses from leveling up seasonal artifacts.

In The Witch Queen, players will start with a new power tier where items with the lowest power level can drop. TWAB said: “Starting February 22, the Power floor will be updated to 1350. Any players who log in will be at the appropriate Power level to start the Witch Queen campaign, even if they have recently taken a break from the game.” This soft power ceiling will be 1500. Rare and Legendary drops from events and chests will help you reach this cap.

Once the soft cap is reached, players will need to find “powerful” gear drops from specific events to reach Power cap 1550. 1560 is the upper limit of hard power, Or the highest power level your rig can achieve. By completing events like Endgame PvE, Trials of Osiris, and Iron Banner, you can earn up to 1560 in weapons and armor. Players can technically increase their power level above 1560, but only by upgrading their seasonal artifacts. Bungie mentioned that there will be slight changes to the Pinnacle and Powerful events based on the content of the upcoming season. Keep in mind that Trials of Osiris will not be available until the new raid starts.

Reminder: Trials of Osiris will be suspended from the release of The Witch Queen until the release of Raid. Give the player time to play the entire campaign and get some levels.
Raid aired on March 5th.
Trials will return on March 11.
We will be reminded in a future TWAB.
