Eve Online subscriptions are on the rise thanks to ‘global trends’

🌐

According to developer CCP, from next month, Eve Online subscriptions for the space game, as well as in-game currency, will increase — including one month’s increase in subscriptions for the first time since 2004. CCP attributed this to “global trends” and increased production costs for making popular MMORPG games.

In a new article on the Eve Online website, CCP takes a deep dive into how the MMO has grown and evolved over its active 19 years, and how the studio “plans to make New Eden and its community stronger than ever before” “. In order for the team to “continue to invest in the development and growth of Eve Online,” CCP is “updating” the prices of all Omega subscriptions and the in-game currency PLEX.

The CCP said the new price increases “reflect global trends affecting general production costs and explain years of inflation”. This is apparently the first increase in one-month subscriptions since 2004. Subscription cost and PLEX currency increases will take effect one month later on May 17.

Below are the new subscription tiers and fees (in USD) and changes.

  • 1 month – $19.99 (was $14.95)
  • 2 months – $35.98 (new tier)
  • 3 months – $47.98 (was $38.85)
  • 6 months – $86.95 (regularly $71.70)
  • 12 months – $149.90 (was $131.40)
  • 24 months – $270.99 (new tier)

CCP plans to “discuss these changes in detail at Fanfest in a few weeks.”

In order to continue investing in the development and growth of EVE Online and fulfilling our EVE Forever mission, we are updating the prices for Omega and PLEX. This adjustment reflects global trends affecting production costs and accounts for years of inflation. https://t.co/UaNPW3f6FJ
