FFXIV house lottery bug leaves everyone a loser

A new Final Fantasy XIV house lottery bug is preventing players from winning bids or buying houses of any kind. Players who entered the MMO game lottery, especially in Japan, found that Square Enix had an impossible number coded into the system and was constantly being picked – so, everyone was a loser.
In case you didn’t already know, in the 6.1 Endwalker expansion, Final Fantasy XIV introduced a lottery-managed housing system for the Empyreum estate – players submit an application and randomly select a piece of land, where they can build on the basis. When it works, it’s a fair system.
Unfortunately, there was a “major problem” with the weekend lottery system, with zeros being added to the winning numbers pool – which no player can claim. Obviously, it comes up a lot, and every time it comes up, all players lose.Sometimes it even breaks the system completely, so the player gets a message saying no one wins the lottery.
The good news is that Square Enix is aware of the problem, with director Naoki Yoshida confirming that the team is “working hard to identify the problem” but admitting that “it will take some time to identify the problem.” There won’t be another lottery until Square Enix corrects the mistake.

Home demolition is also currently on hold, although this is due to current realities.
