Guessing random letters and using them to construct a word is so true in January 2022, because the new hit trivia game on number blocks is Framed. Unlike Wordle or Quordle, Framed is a visual game that tests your movie memory.

The rules are simple because you will see a frame from the movie and you have to guess which movie it is from. Get it wrong and you’ll see another frame, allowing up to six guesses in total.

My first guess about Pacific Rim was completely wrong.

You can of course trick the system by dragging the highlighted frame into Google Image Search, but that would be an empty victory. The winner does not use Google.

Like Wordle, Framed is a daily game that updates itself with a new series of cinematic frames every 24 hours. It’s also unlikely to conflict with Wordle’s new owner, The New York Times, which recently sent a takedown notice to the Wordle archives.

Since Wordle became a hit, it has inspired many similar word puzzle games. There’s Dungleon, the dungeon crawler, Lewdle that requires you to rinse your mouth after you’re done, Taylordle the Swiftie-themed, and even a battle royale game called Squabble.

If Wordle is still your game of choice, you can check out our feature on the best Wordle starter words to get an edge when you start playing every morning.
