Gran Turismo 7 increases credit payout again after fan backlash

In Gran Turismo 7’s update, producer Kazunori Yamauchi apologized for the recent issues affecting the racing simulator, and vowed to fix them by rebalancing the game’s entire economy.

To make up for the bumpy launch of the game — including extended downtime that made Gran Turismo 7 nearly unplayable for more than a day — players will get 1 million game credits to claim them as long as they log into the game by April 25.

As for the future of Gran Turismo 7, Yamauchi explained that an upcoming patch scheduled for April will re-establish the reward system and achieve greater balance throughout the game for the benefit of all players. Other adjustments include:

  • Rewards for the second half of the World Tour have increased by about 100% on average.
  • Added high rewards for Clearing Tour EXP in all Gold/All Bronze results.
  • Increase rewards for online competitions.
  • Includes a total of eight new One Hour Enduro missions. These will also have higher reward settings.
  • Increased the unpaid points cap in player wallets from 20 million to 100 million points
  • Increase the number of used and legendary cars at any given time.

In addition to this, major changes will include more events, increased payouts for limited-time rewards, increased endurance races and online time trials. What’s more, Polyphony Digital is working hard to create a marketplace that will allow its players to sell their cars again, just like they did in Gran Turismo Sport.

Gran Turismo 7 players have previously spent time hone in on specific races to earn points that can be used to buy some of the best — and very expensive — cars in the game, but a recent trouble-making patch has drastically reduced race payouts .

Yamauchi explained in an update that the reason the car was so expensive was to reflect the value of its real-world counterparts, which drew criticism from fans. Disappointment at the current state of Gran Turismo 7 was expressed on GameSpot’s sister site, Metacritic, which has been bombarded with reviews.

Some players did manage to find workarounds from the reduced payouts, though, as they used the AFK credit grinding script to earn some in-game cash.
