Humanity will get updates on religion and siege in April

An update to the historical 4X game Humankind is in progress. The “Vitruvian” patch is scheduled to arrive at the end of April, addressing some balance issues, adding some notification options, improving the religion system, and more. There’s also a limited-time event today, so there’s a lot to do while waiting for next month’s patch to arrive.

Developer Amplitude Studios says the Vitruvian update will include a Balance Pass that will include some additional restrictions for builders and scientists. The builders included Egyptians, Mayans, Khmers, Mughals, Persians, Siamese and Australians. Scientist cultures include Babylonians, Greeks, Umayyads, Koreans, French, Japanese, and Swedes.

Improvements to religion will also appear in the Vitruvian update. Specifically, AI will now adopt historical religions again, which it more or less stopped doing after the update to separate religions and creeds. The Creed screen itself is being updated to “show the Creed effect and how to more clearly adopt historical religion,” Amplitude said.

The Vitruvian update will also add more options to control the notifications you receive while playing Humankind. Instead of turning all notifications on or off, you can choose which types of notifications you want to see and which ones you want to hide.

Another nice fix in the update: you will no longer lose access to the siege engine you used during the war.

That patch is still a month away, but in the meantime, you can jump into humans to celebrate Holi in India. The event consists of completing three in-game challenges to earn new symbols, decorations and a new Nayakuralu Nagamma character.

The event runs from today until April 11, with Chapter 2 kicking off on March 24, when three additional in-game challenges will be unlocked.
