Cyberbang 2069 is at least an early indication of what you can expect. It’s basically a dating sim with many of the Cyberpunk 2077 cast, including Keanu of course (thanks, GR+), and is a mix of fan fiction with original music and art exploring the world’s various romantic options. You can download the explicit or SFW version here.

The most surprising of these is that the three people behind Cyberbang 2069 sought permission from the CDPR to proceed before serious development began.

“We read their terms of service, and for fan art, it’s really kind,” Bean, one of the developers, told The Gamer. “You can make money off your fan art, you can’t lock it behind a paywall. We already knew it was going to be free, but they did say ‘don’t make a cyberpunk-based video game,’ which gave us a little Question what a visual novel is, because some people will say it’s not a video game. It’s fan fiction combined with art, and it’s more of an immersive style, really.”

Last April, a developer named Triple Thirst contacted CDPR to check whether Cyberbang 2069 was allowed under these terms. “We were expecting some kind of clarification, like, ‘Oh, is this about Johnny?'” Bean said. “Because there’s something wrong with his character [in the past] Because of Keanu Reeves, but they just said, ‘Come on’. “

Cyberbang 2069 uses CDPR’s characters but adds more romance options. In Cyberpunk 2077, you can only be in love with a total of four characters. The list here inevitably includes Johnny Silverhand, but also characters who play relatively minor roles in the game, such as Oda Sanda, and the developers aim to add more in the future Role.

Fans have of course been toying with Cyberpunk 2077 in various ways since its release, but expanding romance options is a big theme for mods and fan projects alike. It reached a certain singularity when Keanu Reeves himself was asked how he felt about people modifying the game to beat his bones: “When it’s good, it’s always good.”
