PUBG: Battlegrounds update 16.2 will feature new tactical gear and map rotation
Krafton has revealed details of PUBG: Battlegrounds’ next update, confirming that Patch 16.2 will be released on March 16 on PC and on March 23 on consoles.
When the update launches, players can look forward to the first Survivor Pass since PUBG transitioned to free-to-play in January. Featuring a punk theme, this pass will offer various themed rewards and items players can earn as they pass the pass.
In addition to the Survivor Pass, Update 16.2 will feature new tactical gear in the form of tactical packs and scout scopes. Tactical packs allow players to store almost any type of item and “propose new and creative play styles not seen in the game before”. Meanwhile, the Spotter Scope is a new set of mid-range reconnaissance binoculars that help players on the battlefield by tagging enemies — allowing for non-verbal communication with their squad.
Additionally, PUBG will get an updated map service plan, and Krafton will introduce changes to map rotation adjustments. Sanhok will be replaced by Haven in the update rotation for normal matches, and Erangel, Miramar, Taego and Karakin will also appear in the mode. For qualifying, Erangel, Miramer and Taego will appear.
Based on player feedback, the developers have also fixed item spawn balance issues and adjusted AR, DMR, SR, and scope in Erangel and Miramar spawns.
For players who can’t wait for the update to release, the game’s test servers are currently running update 16.2 ahead of its release in late March.
Last month, Krafton released its 2021 earnings report, showing it was its highest-grossing year, with PUBG taking in $333.6 million, including $96.1 million in the fourth quarter.
