Rainbow Six Siege just got the first of three new maps

After years of no real new locations in Rainbow Six Siege, the game got three new maps in Year 7, and now the first map, the Emerald Plains, has arrived. Y7S1.2 just went live on all platforms with a bunch of bug fixes and operator balance changes. Additionally, Tachanka can no longer kill invincible hostages. A little less domineering now, eh?

Emerald Plains is now available for Ranked, Unranked, Quick Match, Team Deathmatch, Rookie and Lone Wolf PVE playlists. It’s located in a lovely Irish country club and has a combination of close-quarters indoor fighting locations and outdoor areas for gunfights at greater distances.

The Year 7 roadmap includes two additional new maps, which will be introduced in Seasons 2 and 3, respectively. Until this year, the developers had been focusing on reworking existing maps. Back in Year 5, (now former) game director Leroy Athanassoff told us that new maps would be in Siege again, “when we get to the point where all the maps have been redesigned and they’re fun and satisfying. “

You can check out the full patch notes for Y7S1.2 on the official website, as well as the blueprints for the Emerald Plains.
