Skyrim mod lets Khajiit and Argonians walk on their toes
Skyrim’s Argonians and Khajiit are one of its most interesting races: a mix of human-animal races that help make open-world games a vibrant fantasy setting. But as anyone who’s ever owned a pet lizard or cat will no doubt notice, their in-game models look a bit like humans in costumes. The problem is simple: they are going wrong. Fortunately, there is now a mod that solves this problem.
Beastly Beastmen of Rogueshot (creator of the Savage Skyrim mod) has altered the models of Khajiit and Argonian characters to make them proper digitigrades – creatures that walk on their toes. In cats and many other animals, the part of the foot we call the heel lifts up when walking.
Rogueshot created new custom skeletons for Khajiit and Argonians to allow them to walk the way they should, and made some other tweaks. The head, neck, shoulders, and spine have all been tweaked a bit to give the character a more convincing look and a more pronounced difference between males and females.
Rogueshot says Beastly Beastmen should work fine with any textured model, but you may need to try it out to get it to work with any model that specifically alters mixed races.
