The new LEGO Star Wars is the biggest LEGO or Star Wars game on Steam
A few hours ago, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga launched on Steam, and it’s already the biggest game of both series in Valve’s platform history. With 82,517 concurrent players as of this writing (via SteamDB), it’s in Steam’s current top 10 games, a player count that absolutely dwarfs any Lego or Star Wars game before it.
By comparison, the current number of players in the new LEGO Star Wars is comparable to the current level of Destiny 2, Rust and Grand Theft Auto V. However, all of these games are dwarfed by games like CS:GO, Dota 2, etc. Lost Ark, Elden Ring, Apex Legends, and PUBG, often with hundreds of thousands of concurrent players.
The previous largest Star Wars game by concurrent players on Steam was Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which hit 46,550 players at launch in 2019. The only other games to even break 10k are Squadrons, The Old Republic, and the modern Battlefront 2. But there’s an important caveat here, as EA reserves all of its PC releases (and all of its Star Wars games) to Origin until 2019.
But the gap is even bigger on the Lego side, and these games have been on Steam for a long time. The second-largest LEGO game on Steam is LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, with 5,953 concurrent players in 2014, just a few months after launch. So yes, the Skywalker Saga is 14 times bigger than any previous LEGO Steam version.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has been in development for years and has suffered multiple delays. The developers at TT Games confirmed the final release date earlier this year amid reports of a crisis at the studio.
