This Alienware m17 laptop has an RTX 3070 for under $1,500
We don’t usually see such good deals on RTX 3070-capable gaming laptops. Even on Black Friday last year, we were lucky to see RTX 3070 machines priced under $2,000. However, on a regular Wednesday in February, we’re here to see Dell’s deal on an RTX 3070 gaming laptop with a jaw-dropping GPU and specs list for under $1,500.
It’s an Alienware m17 R4 to be exact, and Dell is selling it for $1,469.99 with a “Last Chance – New Low Price” banner on it.
Under the hood is a 10th-gen Intel processor — an octa-core Core i7 10870H — which isn’t the latest generation by any means, but should be enough to get you through the game. That’s probably why we’re seeing this laptop for less than the asking price: Intel is releasing its 12th-generation mobile processors based on the Alder Lake architecture we love on desktops.
Still, there’s a lot of charm behind the 10th-gen i7. Especially once combined with the RTX 30-series GPUs that Nvidia brings to the table. In a similar fashion, Nvidia is about to launch a new mobile GPU — the Mobile Ti chip — which may once again be the reason Dell wants to move old inventory.
There’s also a 1TB NVMe SSD for your massive Steam library, and 16GB of DDR4 memory.
The panels on this laptop make things a little interesting. Dell opted for a 360Hz, 1080p, 17.3-inch panel with G-Sync in the m17 R4.
This screen configuration won’t be to everyone’s taste – if you want more space – but for gaming purposes it will let the RTX 3070 run at high frame rates.
Overall, there’s a lot of gaming performance hidden in this sleek Alienware case, and it should ship sometime this month, too. That’s a pretty decent turnaround for the 2022 RTX 3070. Most of us have been waiting for one since 2020?
