Ubisoft’s battle royale Hyper Scape is shutting down in April

Ubisoft has announced that it will end development on its free-to-play battle royale game Hyper Scape. The company said it will shut down Hyper Scape servers on April 28, just weeks before the second anniversary of its public beta.

“We have made the difficult decision to terminate Hyper Scape development and shut down the game effective April 28,” the Hyper Scape team said in a brief statement posted on Ubisoft’s website today. “We set out to create a vertical, close-range and fast-paced shooter experience, and we’re very grateful to the community for joining us on our journey.”

Ubisoft added that lessons learned during Hyper Scape’s development and field service will be used to inform future projects, and thanks to the player community. “Thank you for your passion and dedication to the new Arcadia world, both inside and outside the game,” Ubisoft said. “Your investment in the games we build will always be valued.”

Hyper Scape made a concerted effort to gain early dominance on Twitch, reaching a peak of over 450,000 viewers in the first few hours of its public beta. But initial interest waned, and it seemed players would either move on or go back to the battle royale games they were already more familiar with.

The team encourages players to contact them with any questions.
