WarnerMedia CEO confirms Gotham Knights and Hogwarts Legacy will hit theaters in 2022
Despite rumors that Hogwarts Legacy could be delayed until 2023 and fears that the Knights of Gotham could suffer the same fate, it appears that both games are on track for a 2022 release.
Announcement from Jason Killarr, CEO of WarnerMedia, he mentioned the two games while laying out the company’s media strategy for 2022 via Twitter. According to Kilar, Warner Bros. fans can expect the company to deliver more stories with “a sense of urgency”, including a “series of highly anticipated games.” While Gotham Knights and Hogwarts Legacy were not mentioned by name, Killarr included photos of the games in his tweet, suggesting that both titles are on the way.

While neither game currently has an official release date, both games will launch this year after pushing back their original 2021 release dates.
In Gotham Knights, players take on the role of Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin, or Red Hood, fighting crime through open-world Gotham City following the apparent death of Batman and Police Chief James Gordon. Last October, Montreal-based WB Games revealed that the mysterious Court of Owls was the opposing group behind Gotham’s decline, and shared insights into the gameplay and seamless co-op mode.
Similar to Gotham Knights, Hogwarts Legacy also offers an open-world experience set in the universe we know and love from the long-running franchise: Harry Potter. In Hogwarts Legacy, you will control your witch or wizard into a fabled school and hone your skills on a journey to become the smartest wizard of your age. Despite the considerable controversy surrounding the game after Harry Potter author JK Rowling shared a statement deemed transphobic, the game is still slated for release later this year, and the author “didn’t participate”. However, that doesn’t mean Rowling won’t get a cut of the profits, as she still gets royalties “from the entire Wizarding World IP.”
