World of Warcraft’s next expansion leaks thanks to Blizzard

The next World of Warcraft expansion has leaked ahead of schedule, thanks to an accidental reveal from Blizzard itself on its website. The expansion pack for the MMO game, which will be officially announced on April 19, is apparently called World of Warcraft: Dragon Legion – and players can at least expect some new dragon mounts.

Historically, World of Warcraft expansions have been released every two years, so beyond 2020, Shadowlands players will be getting another big story DLC this year – however, the disruptions of the pandemic and Activision Blizzard’s alleged discrimination and harassment The lawsuit could delay the new expansion until 2023.

We’ll likely find a release date for World of Warcraft: Dragonflight on April 19 for proper disclosure, but the game’s website (via Wowhead) accidentally leaked the first details of the expansion. A recent update to the source code shows “World of Warcraft Dragons” base, hero and epic pre-orders – multiple levels of suggested expansion, like what Shadowlands got.

Most of them point to a new URL, “” – which, of course, is currently inactive. Wowhead also discovered that data-mining of some dragon-related items was carried out earlier this year, including a pet and what appears to be a green dragon mount. Presumably, these could be bonuses for the epic or heroic editions of the Dragonflight expansion. We’ll find out in a few weeks.

In July 2021, the state of California filed a lawsuit against Activision Blizzard alleging years of discrimination and harassment in the workplace. The story has since embroiled CEO Bobby Kotick and prompted an investigation by the U.S. federal government. It continues to grow and is of immense importance to the gaming industry.
