Ark: Survival Evolved Fjordur – How to get the Scarlet Elixir

Players can get tons of new resources on the new expansion map in Ark: Survival Evolved, Fjordur. Many of these resources are relatively easy to obtain, such as using condensed gas balls to craft hazardous gear or electrified materials. If you’re wondering how to find and use a clotted balloon, we covered it in our previous Ark guide. Today, we’re going to discuss how to find the Scarlet Elixir, which can be one of the most useful items in the entire fjord as long as the player knows how to use it.
The Scarlet Elixir has a fairly basic use, as it simply allows the player to tame mobs 30% faster when consuming it. This is probably one of the most important resources you’ll get in the fjords, as some of the new unique creatures can be difficult to tame. Speaking of those unique creatures, if you’ve been avoiding them so far, that might change soon. One of them holds the key to unlock the Blood Red Elixir, which we’ll explain further below.
Find the Bloody Elixir
The first step in obtaining the Blood Red Elixir in Fjordur is Find Desmodus, one of five new unique creatures. Desmodus is a massive bat creature that is especially aggressive and hostile once you get close to it. It’s also hard to predict in skirmishes, so you need to have a solid strategy to tame/kill it before you can actually stumble upon it. However, in order to unlock the Blood Red Elixir, you need to tame Desmodus.
This is more RNG based than the other unique creatures in Taming Fjordur.First, you need Craft and equip 10-20 blood packs in your inventory shortcut bar. Then you need to find Desmodus on the map.giant bat in Balheim island, southeast of the fjords map. After reaching Balheim, the player needs to go to the coordinates: 90.0 – 78.0. This will take you to the Balheim Trench near the middle of the island. Desmodus may be found in or around dens near trenches.
To tame Desmodus, you need to make sure your blood bag is equipped to the hotbar and that the mob can see you. Once it happens, it grabs you and starts flying away. During this time, the mob will start consuming blood packs. With any luck, after Desmodus has completed about 10 health packs, it will keep flying, which means you’ve tamed it. If the creature knocks you to the ground after finishing the pack, you didn’t succeed and need to try again. Once Desmodus has been tamed, you can proceed to the next step to craft the Blood Red Elixir.
Make Blood Red Potion
Desmodus is the only creature capable of producing blood red potions.However, it can only do so if you Equip it with a saddle and 200 blood packs in its inventory. You can make your own blood packs after level 5 using a blood draw syringe and water bag, or you can have Desmodus make your own blood packs by attacking other mobs. For every creature Desmodus attacks, it adds a blood pack to its inventory.
Once you hit 200 packs and saddle the giant bat, you can start producing Sanguine Elixir. To do this, go to the “Consumables” menu and select “Sanguine Elixir”. If you have the correct ingredients, the elixir will be produced once. You can repeat this process as many times as you want, as long as you have enough blood bags. You now have a concrete way to tame mobs more easily in Ark: Survival Evolved Fjordur.
