Call of Duty: Warzone Season 4 Start Time, New Maps, Update Details

Call of Duty Season 4 is out today with a new update that lets you experience new content across Warzone and Vanguard, including a new map. The theme this time around, Mercenaries of Fortune, focuses on a group of former allies who are now at odds over their stash of gold. At the beginning, you will be able to see if the treasure is worth betraying your friends.

The Season 4 Update will be available for download on June 21st at 9AM PT / 12PM PT for Vanguard and June 22nd at 9AM / 12PM ET for Warzone, but Season 4 Mercenaries of Fortune The content will be officially launched after the Warzone update.
What to expect from season 4
New Operators, Weapons and Timed Warzone Events
Mercenaries of Fortune’s roadmap details a new set of operators coming to Vanguard and Warzone with the introduction of the Special Operations Task Force Immortal. As is usually the case with the new season, players can expect the Season 4 Battle Pass to include 100 new tiers of content, with two new DLC weapons in the free tier.
The Immortal Special Operations Task Force will include Vanguard’s Captain Butcher as a Season 4 Battle Pass Premium-level operator. Task Force Immortal’s Callum Hendry and Ikenna Olowe will arrive later this season, presumably as a cosmetic operator bundle in the in-game store.
Discover the new Marco 5 submachine gun and UGM-8 LMG in the free tier of the Battle Pass. Later in the season, the Push Dagger Melee Tool and Vargo-S Assault Rifle will provide unlockable challenges.
Warzone’s Mercenary of Fortune event will be similar to past Call of Duty events, with a set of eight challenges to complete to earn rewards such as crosshairs, weapon trinkets, badges, stickers and calling cards, as well as weapon camos. Completing all eight challenges will unlock the golden skin for Warzone’s armored SUV.

New Revival Map, Crater Update and New Features
Mercenaries of Fortune brings a brand new Keep Resurgence map for Fortune, which Activision says is roughly the same size as Rebirth Island and will feature similar close-range and respawn action. Fortune’s Keep is themed around a mercenary hideout built on an island, with a luxurious town and castle setting. A close-up tour of Fortress of Fortune can be seen in the reveal trailer for the new map.
Activision confirmed via the Season 4 roadmap that Fortune’s Keep won’t permanently replace Spawn Island, but the old map will be temporarily unavailable.
For Caldera, players can expect some changes to the island. One of the biggest updates is that Season 4 will remove 50% of the island’s vegetation to improve visibility on the map. In addition to being able to see more clearly, players will also have more looting opportunities. The roadmap details more than a dozen points of interest that have been changed or added to the crater, such as mercenary camps and multiple buildings in the capital. Interested storage points are also returned from the old Verdansk map.
Other features of Warzone’s Caldera map include ATMs for extra cash for loot mode and the introduction of an armored SUV.
Golden Plunder will be Caldera’s upcoming limited-time mode. Golden Plunder’s ruleset is similar to Plunder’s Blood Money variant, but with the addition of 120 players. Players will drop more cash on death, increasing the amount of cash needed to win to $5 million.

New maps and modes
Players can look forward to two maps in Season 4. The season kicks off with USS Texas 1945, a “reimagining” of the battleship map from Call of Duty: WWII. Later in the season, players will get the new Desolation map, which is described as a small to medium-sized map set in a dense village full of destruction.
The multiplayer mode of Call of Duty’s blueprint gun game debuts on Pioneer. Just like a standard shootout match, players want to be the first to win a free match with all 18 weapons. Players must eliminate an enemy to cycle through the next weapon, but can hold other players back by melee combat, which will cause the opponent to back off a weapon.

The return of traditional zombie mode
The Shi No Numa map originally featured in Call of Duty: World at War is returning, bringing the classic turn-based zombie experience to Vanguard. Treyarch ditched Vanguard’s objective-style map for a more traditional Zombies experience, and Shi No Numa will be an “enhanced” version of this classic map.
Treyarch says players can expect this version of Shi No Numa to include a new area to explore, Easter eggs, Wonder Weapons quests, and more. While Treyarch hasn’t confirmed whether it will operate in the same way, the Wonder Weapon showcased in Activision’s roadmap blog is very similar to the Wunderwaffe DG-2 Wonder Weapon that originally appeared in the Shi No Numa map. This release will also include Shi No Numa’s traditional lashers and electric traps, but players will still have access to Vanguard features such as the Altar of Covenant and Book of Rites.
The enhanced map also gets new storyline missions related to Treyarch’s ongoing Dark Aether narrative. This major Easter egg is described as a “multi-step quest that culminates in a devastating battle,” and complete completion of the quest will reward the player with a business card.
In other Call of Duty news, Activision also revealed that Warzone 2.0 will be released “soon” after the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. This is the first trailer for Modern Warfare 2, and the game’s “Darkwater” campaign mission was also revealed to be previewed at the recent Summer Games festival.
