Cyberpunk 2077 sales climb to 18 million, The Witcher 3 hits 40 million

As part of CD Projekt’s latest earnings release today, the company revealed new sales figures for Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, both of which provided a slew of numbers.
Cyberpunk 2077 has now sold 18 million copies, up from 13.7 million copies sold in the first 21 days of the game’s December 2020 release.
Meanwhile, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has now sold 40 million copies. Since its debut in 2007, the entire Witcher franchise has moved more than 65 million units. The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S releases of The Witcher 3 were recently delayed indefinitely after CD Projekt Red took over development from Sabre.
For Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt CFO Piotr Nielubowicz said that despite the poor start, the company believes in the game’s “long-term potential.” In 2021, the company is primarily focused on improving the game. The studio is now “pleased” with the state of the game and encouraged by the response to the new PS5 and Xbox Series X|S releases, it said. An expansion is coming.
In terms of specific figures, CD Projekt’s 2021 revenue was PLN 888 million ($207 million) and profit was PLN 209 million ($49 million). These figures are down significantly from the 2020 figures, which include PLN 2.14 billion ($500 million) in revenue and PLN 1.15 billion ($268 million) in profits, but take into account Cyberpunk 2077 The impact of the release, which makes sense.
