Destiny 2's Solar 3.0 subclass gets a big boost next week

Destiny 2’s Solar 3.0 subclass gets a big boost next week

Destiny 2’s haunted season kicked off with a massive overhaul of the Solar subclass, but according to developer Bungie, the fiery overhaul of these Guardian powers needs more tweaking.

In Bungie’s latest blog post of the week, Bungie explained that there are several issues preventing players from becoming Vulcan on the battlefield, and that some changes are coming soon. Warlocks who want to specialize in healing, for example, don’t have the flexibility to do so, as two of their three aspects are focused on air maneuvers or searing.

Titans currently lack a way to maintain momentum without running a throwing hammer or burning multiple cooldowns, and Mercy Cinder Shards are not performing as well as expected.

To address these issues, Bungie will be adding some buffs to Heat Rise, Icarus Dash, Celestial Fire, Burning Maul, Roaring Flames and Consecration, as well as bug fixes to the Ember of Benevolence and some damage over time grenades, coming next week with Hotfix 4.1. 0.2 goes live together.

Hunters are now isolated, but Warlocks can look forward to applying more Scorch stacks with Celestial Fire and doing a better job of being a raid medic.

Titans will see buff damage in PvE when using Burning Maul, can use Roaring Flames to apply more Scorch stacks, and can catch players who jump too late thanks to tweaks to Consecrated’s secondary attack. Here’s what these tweaks look like:

Sun Warlock

heat up

  • New behavior: Consuming your grenade now also releases a beam of Cure x2 around you, healing you and allies near you. Consuming a Healing Grenade increases Healing x3 burst power, and consuming a Touch of Fire Healing Grenade provides Restoration as an additional benefit.

Icarus Sprint

  • New Behavior: While in the air, quickly defeat the target with your Super or any weapon heals you.

sky fire

  • Each Celestial Fire projectile now applies 10 Scorch. When Ember is equipped, this stack increases to 15.

sun titan

Burning Maul

  • 25% increased damage in PvE

Raging fire

  • Added behavior: While Roaring Flames is active, your uncharged melee attacks now deal Solar damage and apply 30 Scorch to the target per hit. When Ember is equipped, this stack increases to 40 stacks.

dedication

  • Fragment slots increased from 1 to 2.
  • Increased the ground wave height of secondary attacks by 25% to make it easier to catch players who jump too late.

Bungie added that due to the scale of changes in Solar 3.0 next week, another Balance Pass won’t be seen until later in the haunted season so that the team can maintain a healthy work-life balance. As for the next subclass revamp, Arc 3.0, Bungie says it’s still in development and going well.

In other Destiny 2 news, Iron Banner is back with a surprisingly easy quest, this week’s hotfix adds some Duality dungeon fixes, and you’ll be able to find out where Xur is when the Exotic Arms Dealer arrives this weekend .
