Popular Final Fantasy XIV creator Mrhappy1227 has a point. New egg-eating emoji coming to MMO – if you’ve never considered the possibility that someone will eat an egg, this emoji looks unrealistic and might even be disturbing Incorrect. All we’re going to do now is a screenshot of a laraphill holding what looks like a hard-boiled egg with half the shell left. What happens next is anyone’s guess, but if the animation of eating a regular egg is any indication, the whole thing goes into their mouths, shells and all.
This emote will be available as part of Final Fantasy XIV’s Easter-themed Hatching Tide event, which will go live on April 13. As with other holiday events, you complete quests and earn rewards, such as mounts, clothing, and items to put in your house. Eating eggs is the main attraction this year, but the screenshots have many players questioning how it works.
Mrhappy1227, who recently made a video about the incident, thinks it’s a bad way to eat boiled eggs. He shows why in the video, holding the egg like Larafael and explaining how most eggs are hard to get (with your mouth) without getting into the shell. I think we can all agree that you don’t want to eat shells.

If the yolk doesn’t fit inside — maybe the white is too thick — then you can’t even reach the yolk, which is like the best part of a hard-boiled egg,” Mrhappy1227 said, holding the half-covered egg in his hands as evidence.
Mrhappy1227 brings this argument to Twitter. The replies are mostly unanimous, but some people think that eggs can be soft boiled and that changes everything. A hard-boiled egg needs the shell to serve as a cup: otherwise you’ll all have loose eggs on your hands. But the egg in the screenshot has a solid shape, or as solid as a low-poly egg not built for this level of scrutiny. If it’s soft cooked then they should have a spoon or something in their other hand.
There are other suggestions on how to correct eating eggs, but I can’t follow them. “Simple, just pull the shell back to poke a straw,” Toxoplasma gondii wrote in reply to Mrhappy1227. I’m sorry archer, this says more about your understanding of how hard boiled eggs work than how this expression works.
I still think the shell is secondary, like the apple peel, the emote will make your character eat the whole thing. An extra protein crunch won’t hurt. I watched Ross O’Donovan – a look that might be a reference to him – eating thousands of these eggs in his stream.
Obviously, how the egg emote works is a very important question that Final Fantasy 14’s Incubation Tide event will better answer next week.
