The latest update for Horizon Forbidden West is out now, offering balance updates, a bunch of fixes, and more. For the purposes of this update, developer Guerrilla says it’s combining updates 1.10 and 1.11 into one patch, and it’s out now on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.

In terms of fixes, the main quest “Broken Sky” should no longer prevent players from interacting with Kotallo after fast travel. Additionally, the Wings of Ten quest could in rare cases prevent the objective from updating, preventing the player from progressing, but this has now been fixed.

For machines, this new update fixes an issue where the Apex version of Bristleback might never build. The patch also addresses an issue preventing players from collecting mining claws from the Apex version of Rockbreaker.

There are also some UI changes, including how Forbidden West now correctly highlights tasks selected in the Tasks tab of your journal. There was also an issue that caused an infinite black screen for some players at workbenches, but this has also been fixed.

What’s more, subtitles were added to the lyrics of the Forbidden City title song “In the Flood”. Guerrilla Games wants to hear fans sing this tune. “It’s karaoke time!” said the studio.

Guerrilla is also tracking a number of known issues, including how players were unable to place any waypoint markers within 500 meters of Aloy in the world, and how some newly acquired items were not showing the new (!) icon.

Below you can see the full list of patch notes and known issues shared by Guerrilla on Reddit.

Horizon Forbidden West 1.10 and 1.11 Patch Notes

fixes and improvements

main mission

  • Fixed an issue where players would sometimes not be able to interact with or follow Kotallo in the main quest “Broken Sky” after quickly leaving to browse other side content.

  • Fixed an issue in the main quest “Wings of Ten” where, on rare occasions, objectives would not update after returning to base, hindering progress.

side quests

  • Fixed several conditional progression issues in the side quest “Hungry for the Hunt”.

  • Fixed an issue in the side quest “Boom or Bust” where overriding any machines during the “Kill the Machines” objective would not advance the quest.

  • Fixed multiple instances of machines that would appear unreachable by the player during side quest objectives, which would conditionally block progression.

world events

  • Fixed an issue where the “Search Command Center” objective would sometimes fail to complete in Demon’s Grip at Rebel Camp.

  • Fixed an issue in Rebel Camp First Forge where players could miss getting the Sun Scourge bow after reloading their save after looting Asera. NOTE: This will not affect save games for people who “lose” their bow by reloading the save before talking to Erend while picking up the bow. These players can revisit Asera’s corpse. Asera’s corpse will continue to respawn until the player steals the bow from her. Please, take a bow so she can stop wandering the west.

  • Fixed Keruf’s “Missing Gear” salvage contract not completing the contract if the player got multiples of the required items.

  • Fixed an issue where Trials could sometimes not be started or completed in Plainsong Hunting Grounds.

  • Fixed an issue with melee pit progression.

  • Fixed an issue where the Apex version of Bristleback would never spawn in the open world.

  • Fixed Plowhorn issue with Apex Plowhorn not including Apex Plowhorn Heart.

  • Fixed an issue where Mining Claws could not be collected from Apex Rockbreaker after Rockbreaker detached.

  • Fixed an issue where the Skydrifter would stand in the air.

  • Fixed an issue where the regular (non-Apex) version of Thunderjaw would never spawn in the open world.

  • Fixed an issue with Coils and Braids where mods designed to increase impact damage instead of all damage.

  • Fixed an issue with Coils and Weaves where weavings that gave multi-defense increases displayed the Plasma Weave icon.

  • Fixed an edge case where pressing a rock’s “throw” action would instead perform heavy melee combat. Invisible players, don’t celebrate too loudly, the machines will hear you!

known issues

We are currently investigating several issues reported by the community. Note that these issues have not yet been fixed in this patch, but our team is aware of them and is investigating them.

  • During the side quest “Blood Choke”, Atekka does not use ballistas.

  • Some players cannot unlock the “Each Bag Type Upgraded” trophy after upgrading each bag type – please note that for this trophy you will need to have food bags collected after purchasing food from the chef.

  • Players reported that they were no longer able to trade with Abadund after completing a dialogue after completing a side quest.

  • Players cannot place any waypoint markers on the open world within a 500m radius of Aloy’s location.

  • Players reported that new items acquired did not show the new (!) icon in their inventory.

We also noticed that the stream was interrupted when playing at 1080p and 60fps after saving in Campfire. To avoid this, it is recommended to choose a lower broadcast quality or a lower frame rate, such as 1080p and 30fps, or 720p and 60fps.
