Call of Duty Season 2 Reloaded for Vanguard and Warzone is coming to an end, and the final weapon of the season has quietly joined Vanguard. The Ice Axe melee weapon is now unlockable, and there are multiple ways to unlock it.
How to Unlock Ice Axe
Season 2’s Ice Axe is a throwable melee weapon that was added to Call of Duty: Pioneer and Warzone. This is described as a weapon that can be used in combat as a melee and throwable weapon.
Ice Axe can be unlocked for free through Vanguard multiplayer, Zombies or Warzone’s in-game challenges, or the weapon can be purchased through the cosmetic store bundle.
Warzone Challenge
Ice Axe’s Warzone Unlock Challenge
For Warzone, Ice Axe can be unlocked 15 times by taking 3 kills with a throwing knife in a single match. Throwing knives are recyclable lethal items that can be added to your custom loadout. It’s best to try this unlock challenge on a Rebirth playlist like Caldera Clash or Rebirth Resurence.
notes: Warzone’s multiplayer weapon unlocks require you to complete matches in order to receive rewards for your challenge progress. You can’t just get three throwing knife kills and quit the game.

Ice Axe’s Multiplayer Unlock Challenge
Vanguard’s multiplayer challenges are the same as Warzone. Ice Axe can be unlocked 15 times by getting 3 kills with a throwing knife in a single match. Overall, unlocking challenges shouldn’t be too difficult for multiplayer. Trying out this challenge on a small map playlist like Shipment 24/7 should help you get there faster.

Zombie Challenge
Zombies Unlock Ice Axe Challenge
In Zombies, kill 50 Sturmkriegers with a melee weapon. This will be more distressing than a multiplayer challenge. Commandos are the Vanguard’s heavily armored zombie type armed with death machine miniguns. This enemy type does not spawn in large numbers, so it will take some time to destroy 50 of them.
To best defeat the Heavy Commandos, I recommend upgrading your favorite melee weapons with the Pack-a-Punch machine as soon as you have enough cash. Also, Bloodthirsty Covenant is helpful for gear. Unfortunately, the Covenant you give each match is random, but Bloodlust makes melee attacks deal more damage and heal you, so be sure to check your Covenant options every round. Ice Breaker Store Bundle
To avoid unlocking challenges, you can purchase the Ice Breaker Store Bundle. This 8-item bundle includes an ice axe, a fancy battle shield blueprint, and other cosmetic items for 1,100 CoD points ($10).
How you choose to complete this challenge will largely depend on your game mode preferences, but the overall fastest way to unlock the Ice Axe for free will be through Vanguard’s multiplayer challenge.
