E3 2022 was canceled, but the gaming industry is moving forward with the usual rhythm of summer gaming events. The biggest of these is Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest, which he created as his own virtual show — first as a replacement for 2020’s ruined E3, then as a virtual version in 2021.The core of which is Summer Games Festival 2022 Live Streaming, a special event that begins all gaming coverage under its umbrella. It was followed by Developer Day: Summer Games Festival Edition.
Known for hosting and producing The Game Awards every December, Keighley is also responsible for Gamescom’s Opening Night Live. So he’s no stranger to big stage shows, and Summer Game Fest aims to celebrate all games, differentiated from the platform and publisher showcases we’re also expecting to see.

How to watch the 2022 Summer Games Festival live stream
The Summer Game Fest Live 2022 presentation will be broadcast on popular streaming platforms like YouTube and Twitch. This year, the presentation will also be shown in select IMAX theaters. Ticket sales for the live event will begin on May 12. Keighley also joked that the IMAX partnership will continue for The Game Awards later this year.
What to expect live at the 2022 Summer Games Festival
Like many of these summer showcases, very little is known about what to expect from the Summer Game Fest Live 2022 demo. However, Geoff Keighley’s work is often a mix of new game premieres and new looks to previously announced games. It’s also not unusual for a game company to officially announce a game days or weeks before an event, to premiere a teaser trailer during the Summer Game Festival or The Game Awards. So we may have a better idea of the lineup as we get closer to the June date. In fact, this has already happened, as new footage from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II was confirmed to appear during the event.
Keighley’s event also took place ahead of the June 12 Xbox showcase. It’s not unheard of for a publisher like Microsoft to plan a two-part showcase of the game, first teasing the game during the Summer Games Festival, and then at its own event. This year, Microsoft shared the stage with its latest (and eventual) acquisition of Bethesda, and we hope to see Starfield shine.
Unlike work from Microsoft or Ubisoft, this doesn’t focus strictly on work that appears on a particular hardware platform or comes from a single publisher. Instead, Summer Game Fest Live 2022 will feature the debut of any game that agrees to showcase its products at the Keighley event. In the past, it has included heavyweights like Death Stranding, Elden Ring, Star Wars Eclipse, and Bayonetta 3.

Developer Day 2022
As mentioned above, Developer Day will return and take place immediately after Summer Game Fest Live. It’s made by Double Fine and iam8bit, and while we don’t know much about it, it’s usually a platform to showcase some exciting indie games. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the event.
