There is a workaround for the KOTOR II game hack bug on Nintendo Switch
Aspyr, developer of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II for Nintendo Switch, offered a workaround for a bug that prevented players from completing the game.
Some players were unable to complete the story after experiencing a crash after one of the game’s main cutscenes, which occurred after the Basilisk crashed the cutscene and landed on Onderon. The workaround requires players to visit the hidden cheat menu and skip that point, as Aspyr is working on a more traditional fix for the game’s next patch.
According to Asypr’s website, here’s how to avoid the crash:
- Before the cutscene, navigate to the party selection screen
- Triple tap the left stick to open the cheat menu
- Choose a longitude and go to OND504
- Go around to a random location and don’t go to the business district (another crash will happen there)
The crash was previously thought to affect all players of the Switch version of the Star Wars classic, but Aspyr clarified to Axios that only a small number of players experienced the crash.
Aspyr supports the porting of many classic Star Wars games to modern platforms, including Republic Commandos, Jedi Knight II: Jedi Exiles, and Star Wars Episode I: Racers. The studio is currently working on a remake of the original Knights of the Old Republic for PlayStation 5 and PC, though no new details have been shared since it was revealed.
