Airborne Kingdom, an aerial city builder, is coming to Steam

Most city building games let you gradually expand the area you cover, but Airborne Kingdom takes a different approach: the sky is the real limit. Rather than buying land, you have to think carefully about how much lift you’re generating to keep your sky settlement aloft. It’s launching on Steam today, and it’s worth checking out if you passed it when it launched on the Epic Games Store.

Airborne Kingdom is a beautifully styled and relaxing game, but there’s a lot of management to do while keeping the city flying and expanding. Your goal is to reunite a shattered kingdom, so in addition to keeping everything in balance and taking care of your citizens’ needs, you’ll be doing some travel. As you traverse the procedurally generated world, you’ll be able to send scout planes to the surface to gather resources and new city dwellers.

The world you fly above looks a lot like the map from the HBO Game of Thrones intro: everything looks handcrafted and woodcut, while your little floating city appears to be running on a combination of clockwork and balloons.

Here’s the trailer:

The Steam version of Airborne Kingdom includes post-launch updates and DLC, so you’ll be able to take on tougher challenges in New Game+ and Hardmode.
