Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 is coming, and it’s going to be “very cool”

The next big patch for Baldur’s Gate 3 is just around the corner. Larian Studios shared a “pre-patch announcement” on Steam, revealing that Patch 7 for the DnD game is “almost here” and that it will be “…very cool”.
“It’s been a full festive period since we spoke,” the studio said, reassuring fans of the game — it’s still in Steam Early Access — that the developers aren’t “taking a break from our Christmas diary, but”. Pooh. “Patch 7 is almost here, and we’re so excited that you’ll be able to play it, we might have a blast. This isn’t necessarily a hint, we’re just super excited,” the developer added.
Sadly, there aren’t any details at all in the dev post, so we’ll have to wait for the studio’s next panel from Hell, which Larian says has “come to reveal it properly.” However, the studio did add a mini-trailer to this, saying, “Let’s just say it’s going to be…very cool.” Hmm.
“Well, that might be a hint of what’s going to happen to the show itself – just keep calm and everything will be revealed soon,” the developer further added. So, that should keep you guessing for now.

It’s impossible to glean any specific information from the trailer right now, but hopefully the panel will show up to reveal everything shortly. All we know is how much space the seventh major patch will take up on your PC. According to the post, the update will arrive at about 32GB, so if you want to download it when it arrives, you’ll need to make sure you have at least enough space. The total install size of the entire game (including patch 7) will be 100GB.
It’s also worth noting that, as the developers have highlighted, any previous saves from previous versions (hence, patch 6 or earlier) will no longer be compatible if you get the new patch. If you wish to continue the previous archive, you can choose the beta branch, which Larian explains in detail in his development post. No word yet on when the panel from hell or when the new patch will arrive, but keep an eye on Larian’s social media channels – hopefully we’ll hear about those soon.
