Batman’s Joker Appears in Newly Deleted Arkham Scene
Remember when every big movie had an ARG associated with it to spark enthusiasm? Batman remembers. Following the release of the film, Warner Bros. launched a website inspired by riddles. After people solved a bunch of riddles, we now have our prize: a scene from the movie that removed Batman’s nemesis, the Joker. Spoilers follow Batman.
The film ends with the Riddler being held in jail in the ears of the Clown Prince of Crime, forging a potential alliance. The movie doesn’t give us a clear view of the Joker, but it’s clear that’s exactly who he’s talking to. Initially, though, the Joker was supposed to have his own scene with Batman.
The scenes are short but informative. The Joker tells Batman it’s their one year anniversary; it’s no longer Joker’s origin story, nor Batman’s origin story — they already know each other. Batman visits the Joker to get his thoughts on some of the Riddler’s doodles. The Joker responded by making fun of Batman, although he correctly suggested that the Riddler might be a fan of The Dark Knight’s work.
While we don’t see the Joker clearly in this scene, we do see more than we do in the actual movie. The Joker’s scars were even deeper than Heath Ledger’s version, and the acid that twisted his mind burned most of his skin. Part of his hair fell out, and his mouth was even bleeding. With so many characters on the Joker now, it’s no surprise that Reeves and company are looking for a new one.
Batman has been the No. 1 box office hit since its release, grossing more than $600 million worldwide. While a sequel to Batman hasn’t been announced, at this point it seems almost certain that we’ll be seeing Batinson and this new version of the Joker again.
