CD Projekt to stop sales in Russia and Belarus

The company behind The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 is ceasing sales in Russia and Belarus. The suspension of digital sales and physical inventory applies not only to its products, but to all games distributed on GOG, its online storefront.

“The entire CD Projekt group stands with the Ukrainian people,” the statement read. “While we are not a political entity capable of directly influencing national affairs, nor do we aspire to be a part of it, we do believe that when commercial entities come together, they have the power to spark global change in the hearts and minds of ordinary people.

“We know that Russian and Belarusian actors, individuals unrelated to the invasion of Ukraine, will be affected by this decision, but we hope that through this action will further stimulate the international community to talk about what is happening in Ukraine. The heart of Europe. Dedicated to Brothers and sisters fighting for the motherland – be strong!”

The news comes after Ukraine’s deputy prime minister called on companies such as Xbox and PlayStation to block “all Russian and Belarusian accounts.” EA has since revealed plans to remove Russian teams from FIFA and the NHL, while the former Wargaming developer has called on the company to use World of Tanks to tell Russians the truth about the war.
