Chrono Cross is being remastered and my heart is full

Timed cross. Forget all the new games revealed at Wednesday’s Nintendo Direct and soak up the warm glow of Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition, a high-definition take on one of Square’s best RPGs.
I challenge you to listen to the voices of radical dreamers and not feel a sense of calm creeping through you, or feel the call to adventure from the scars of time. Squaresoft’s 2000 RPG is a game with a wonderful atmosphere: dreamy and painterly, at times melancholic, at times utterly goofy, and perhaps the most beautiful game of the Square PlayStation era, despite the competition. After years of watching Square remakes and porting Final Fantasy games to PC and modern consoles, I’m glad it’s finally Chrono Cross’s turn.
The Nintendo Direct trailer only mentioned a Switch version of this remake, but the Japanese trailer above and the official website confirm it’s coming to PC as well. The Steam page isn’t live yet, but it’s coming to Switch on April 7; hopefully the PC version will land on the same day.
When it came out, Chrono Cross caused a slight controversy: there are sure to be Chrono Trigger fans who were disappointed by how different Chrono Cross was and how disjointed it was as a sequel. But I’ve always thought that was the strength of the Chrono Cross. Even today, it’s a completely unique game.
One of the big questions I didn’t answer in the trailer for this remake is how much work and attention Square Enix has put into rebuilding or suppressing Chrono Cross’s background.It looks like the “HD” ports it used to use for games like Final Fantasy 9 OKbut dedicated modders have shown us how much they can improve with careful AI upgrades.
