Cold War city builder workers and resources now have police

The Cold War-era city-building game Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic now has a new major update that adds the long-awaited crime and justice system. As fans have come to expect, it’s filled with new schedules to manage, fleets to build, and government buildings to build and run.

Like last year’s government loyalty update that added secret police and orphanages, this new update adds a whole new dimension to the simulation of workers and resources. Now, in addition to happiness and loyalty, every citizen has a “criminal” behavioral trait, a variable that determines their likelihood of committing a crime.

To address this, you can now build police stations, district courts, and prisons, each offering a new menu to fine-tune your approach to crime. In courts, you can set staffing levels and determine sentences for misdemeanors and felonies, while prisons give you the option to use detainee labor on more ambitious construction projects. Of course, there are now also new police cars, trucks and vans that can move officers and prisoners from point A to point B.

Here’s a trailer with details:

Adding an extra dimension to the needs and behaviors of your citizens will naturally make the game more challenging, and if you don’t like it, the developers have provided the option to turn all of that off.

Even so, the latest patch won’t make you chill. There’s also a new rail distribution office to be built, where you can plan train routes, buy new trams and set timetables in one convenient dandy location.
