Dying Light 2 review – our summary of the critics’ ratings

The highly anticipated Dying Light 2: Remaining launches this week, and Techland’s zombie game is now recognized by game critics around the world. After numerous delays and sometimes confusing marketing pushes in its final sprint to release, is this a worthy successor to one of 2015’s sleepy hits?
As it turns out, it depends on who you ask. In our Dying Light 2 review, veteran news writer Dustin Bailey praised the combat and parkour system, saying it feels like what they did in the first game Just as great. However, the new ideas in Dying Light 2 didn’t impress. All sorts of little mistakes plagued his gameplay, but to make matters worse, he felt that the promise of making corresponding, game-changing decisions never really materialized. “I spent about 30 hours on Dying Light 2, and I’d say I liked about ten of them,” Dustin wrote, ultimately giving it a 6/10 rating.
On our sister site, The Loadout, Joe Apsey prefers Dying Light 2’s green dystopia. “We’ve all lost touch during lockdown or experienced broken friendships and witnessed how people go up or down in times of need,” Joe wrote. “Techland managed to capture this collective trauma and experience in the narrative of Dying Light 2. And, for that reason alone, the narrative of Dying Light 2 ends up being better than we haven’t been through COVID for the past two years. -19 pandemic.”
