FFXIV 6.1 release date confirmed in Live Letter 70

As part of today’s Live Letter 70, Final Fantasy XIV producer Yoshi-P confirmed that the first major content update for the MMORPG’s Endwalker, originally detailed in a previous Live Letter, will be Arrived April 12. This patch adds new main scenario quests, side quests, and character quests, as well as many other updates to housing, job balance, and more.

Following the climactic events of Endwalker’s main story, 6.1’s story missions will see the Warriors of Light and their friends set out to find new adventures. This will include new character quests and the start of Tataru’s Grand Endeavour series, which focuses on everyone’s favorite Lalafellin receptionist. However, you’ll have to wait until patch 6.15 to meet up with Gentleman Inspector Hildibrand Manderville again and do the Horde quest for Arkasodara.

We’ll also see more endgame content roll out, including the new Kingdom Mythical Alliance raid, as well as more challenging trial versions like The Ballad of the Bard: Aria of the Terminator and Bane of Genesis (Unreal) to test more Member of a large hardcore player base.

One of the most anticipated features of FFXIV Patch 6.1 is the arrival of Empyreum, a residential area in Ishgard. Anyone who’s tried to buy a house in FFXIV knows that it’s one of the most distressing systems in any video game – so the system is now a kind of lottery where players can submit applications to randomly select purchases, which strikes me as Very pleased with the given plot.

Other updates on display include the Adventurer Board, a fully customizable business card that allows you to show other players your character, achievements, and usual playtime. There are also plenty of new armor sets and minions, as well as a NieR:Automata pod mount that can carry players around. In addition to the improved charm board system, this should make it easier to master the fashion game.

Some job changes have been teased, but full details will be revealed at a later date. Dark Knight players can be delighted to learn that “The Walking Dead will now regenerate a large amount of health after a successful landing attack.” Meanwhile, the Ninja’s Trick Attack debuff will now only increase the personal damage they deal to the target, while the Mug skill will now apply a A debuff that can be used by the entire team. There are also some specific changes to PvP, and all jobs can use Limit Break in Competitive Mode.

Also includes an update to the trust system, which offers NPC companions to join your dungeon if you don’t like grouping with actual players. Trust is now being introduced for 2.0 A Realm Reborn Dungeons as a start to deployment that will eventually see the system originally introduced in Shadowbringers applied to all dungeon content in the game.

Yoshida said he hopes Trusts will make the game more accessible to players who were previously put off by the multiplayer nature of FFXIV. In addition to this launch, some early game dungeons have also been updated to make them more suitable for NPC AI, such as the removal of those disgusting sticky floors in Totorac, Thousand Maw. If you haven’t experienced Final Fantasy XIV’s base game (you’ve probably heard it’s free to play), these additions should make it easier to pick up than ever.
