To celebrate Final Fantasy’s 35th anniversary, a brand new website has been launched that appears to be teasing details about the unannounced project.

Arriving at the site, an anniversary artwork front and center features the Warriors of Light, while the iconic theme song plays in the background. On the home page, a message simply states that the first Final Fantasy game was released on December 18, 1987, and that 2022 marks the 35th anniversary of the series, while also teasing something new for fans.

“On this 35th anniversary, we’re bringing you many exciting new ways to enjoy the world of Final Fantasy. Please look forward to the Final Fantasy store,” the message reads.

Additionally, there’s a special message from Final Fantasy 7 Remake producer Kaden Kitase, while anniversaries for Final Fantasy 5, Final Fantasy 7, and Final Fantasy 11 are accompanied by messages. Final Fantasy 5 is celebrating its 30th anniversary, Final Fantasy 7 is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and Final Fantasy 11 is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Alluding to why these games and their anniversaries exist, Kitase said: “Many games celebrate their anniversaries every year, but if you think about it, there are so many games in a series that are arranged this way It’s very unusual.”

The producer went on to thank fans for their “passionate support” and confirmed that the new site will “support new releases, share information about upcoming games and merchandise. I hope you’re excited about what Final Fantasy has to offer!” The site already has Two Square Enix games, including Chocobo GP – slated for a March 10 release – and Stranger Things: Final Fantasy Origins, slated for a March 15 release.

Today, the new State of Play will be airing and will feature news from Japanese publishers about PS4 and PS5 games. There has been speculation that Sony is preparing to finally reveal new information about the sequel to Final Fantasy 7 Remake, as well as news about Final Fantasy 16.
