Fortnite returns to iOS with help from Nvidia

Fortnite is finally back on iOS thanks to Nvidia’s game cloud streaming service, GeForce Now.

GeForce Now is adding Fortnite as a limited-time beta on iOS, the GPU maker allowing players to tap into Epic Games’ battle royale shooter using iOS’s native web browser, Safari. Players who want to try Fortnite will need to subscribe to GeForce Now to play, which supports both touch and controllers.

If you’re interested in playing Fortnite on the go on iPhone, you can sign up for the beta here. Nvidia is using beta testing server capacity, but has not announced an end date. It did say that players will be added in batches over the next few weeks.

Fortnite was removed from Apple’s App Store more than a year ago after Epic Games tried to circumvent royalty payments by implementing a direct payment service in the game. The planned move led to a months-long legal battle between Apple and Epic Games, which was finally settled late last year. Both sides plan to appeal the ruling, and legal proceedings are still ongoing.
