Is Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed exclusive to Epic? I’m afraid so. The new Ghostbusters multiplayer game is set to release on PC and consoles later this year, and on PC, it’ll be available exclusively on the Epic Games Store when it launches — just like the franchise’s final game, Ghostbusters : Same as video game remakes.
After being unexpectedly confirmed last year, today Friday the 13th: The Game and Predator: Hunting Grounds developer Illfonic announced the multiplayer ghost game Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed – it’s basically a direct sequel to last year’s Ghostbusters Afterlife movie.
Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed currently has a release date of around Q4 2022 — so it’s still a while — but Illfonic confirmed that when it releases, it will be an Epic Games Store exclusive on PC. The press release specifies that the game “will be out” as an Epic-only version, and PCGamesN spoke with Illfonic’s PR, who confirmed that Ghostbusters will only be a “timed exclusive” on Epic. As such, Ghostbusters: Souls Unleashed is coming to Steam at a later date—most likely sometime in 2023.
For example, Ghostbusters: Remastered was released as an Epic exclusive in 2019 and came to Steam a year later. Illfonic’s own Predator: Hunting Grounds does the same thing, and its recent Arcadegeddon is still only available on the Epic Games Store — even though it’s only early access and launched less than a year ago.
Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed will be released in Q4 2022.
