HP’s new Victus 15L desktop appeals to gamers on a budget
HP announced its Victus PC line a while ago, promising more affordable gaming than the Omen line. At CES, we saw HP’s new case with a cooling chamber, a versatile gaming monitor with the HP Omen 27u, and now we’re taking a look at HP’s first new desktop PC with budget-conscious gamers in mind.
At least, we hope it’s the HP 15L Desktop Victus doesn’t have any price tags yet. All we know is some of the provided configurations. These PCs have a choice of up to Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT GPUs. These can be paired with up to 12th Gen Intel Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 7 5000G series processors with up to 32GB DDR4 RAM.
Since it’s 2022 and this is a gaming PC, the Victus 15L desktop also has a customizable RBG logo on the front. Otherwise, the case comes in a sleek looking box design and is available in white and black.
There are 4 USB A and 1 USB C, plus a headphone port that looks easily accessible on the front. The bezels are made from post-consumer recycled plastic, and the paint is water-based with sustainability in mind. The unit is also ENERGY STAR certified and EPEAT Silver registered. HP lists its Omen Obelisk desktop PC with a Bronze EPEAT rating only, so this device could be a good choice for the budget and energy-conscious.
Take a look at similar PCs that are currently available, they can be priced in the $1,000+ to $2,000 range. Without knowing the exact configuration of these parts and other options like SSDs, it’s really impossible to guess where this will go in terms of pricing. Given that HP is marketing it as a cheaper alternative to the current Omen series, we expect it to live up to its name. HP’s Victus 15L desktop is set to launch in February, so at least we won’t be waiting too long to find out.
