John Romero Makes a New Doom 2 Level – 5 Euros, Supports Ukraine
John Romero, one of the most legendary figures in PC gaming, is here to continue creating new levels for his most famous work. Sigil released in 2019 as a free, unofficial fifth episode of the original Doom, and now Romero has released a new paid Doom II tier to support humanitarian work in Ukraine.
This level is called One Humanity and is available on Romero’s website for €5.00 (~$5.80).every penny as Romero explained on Twitter, donated to the Red Cross and the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund. You need Doom II’s modern Source port to play .WAD files.
Many game industry figures have been using their influence to help support charities in Ukraine. A group of indie developers are building a massive charity bundle to support International Medical Corps and Children’s Voices. The developers behind the anti-war game This War of Mine have promised that near-term proceeds from the game will go to support the Ukrainian Red Cross. Truck Simulator developers are also building a DLC pack to support charities.
