League of Legends’ new champion is Renata Glasc — here’s what she’s capable of

Riot Games means business this year. Following Zeri’s addition to League of Legends patch 12.2, we now welcome another new hero to the Rift. Supporting champion Renata Glasc from “a resourceful and selfless family of Zaunits alchemists” joins Riot Games’ flagship MOBA game as the 159th character, patch 12.4.

“Ambitious and with a legacy of advanced technology, she plans to go beyond Zaun’s boundaries,” Riot’s description reveals the new champion. Chemical Baroness Renata Glasc has great vision and business acumen, which means she has a prominent position in the region – and it sounds like she has a pretty ruthless personality. “The price of progress is that others are unwilling to pay,” she said in one sentence. “Work for me, or against me – it doesn’t matter. Everyone comes to me eventually,” another said. So, Renata Glasc sounds like someone to ignore. You can view her biography here.

Mysterious and metallic, Renata’s classic original art is full of color, illuminating her power, and the champion has glowing pink eyes and metallic arms. It seems her release skin will be Admiral Renata Glasc – she looks just as intimidating. You can view these below.

In terms of gameplay, Renata’s background in alchemy is a perfect fit for her skill pack, and her skills are clearly geared towards her supporting characters. Without further ado, let’s see what Renata Glasc is capable of (via Riot Games):

Passive – Leverage

Renata Glasc’s basic attacks mark her enemies and deal bonus damage. Damage from Renata’s allies consumes the marker, dealing additional damage.

Q – handshake

Renata Glasc fires a missile from her robotic arm, immobilizing the first enemy it hits. She can reactivate her ability to throw enemies in the target direction, dealing damage and stunning enemies hit if the target of the throw is a hero.

W – rescue

Renata Glasc makes allied heroes or herself increase attack speed and movement speed towards enemies. If an ally knocks down an enemy hero, the buff duration is reset. If an ally dies while Rescue is still active, their health is restored to full, but they will start burning to death within 3 seconds. Allies can stop the burn by taking down champions before they die.

E – Loyalty Program

Renata Glasc fires chemical tech rockets, protecting allies and hurting and slowing foes as they pass. Rockets also cast effects around her and explode at maximum range.

R – Hostile Takeover

Renata Glasc unleashes a volley of chemicals that rampage enemies, increasing their attack speed and forcing them to perform basic attacks on anything around them. Raging enemies attack their allies first, then neutral units, then Renata Glasc’s team, then Renata Glasc himself.

No word yet on the exact breakdown of these in terms of effects, cost, cooldowns, etc. However, the League of Legends 12.4 patch beta cycle kicks off later this week, so we should have a good idea of her PBE debut in the next few days.
