Lost Ark devs reveal MMO character creation and customization

With the isometric fantasy MMORPG Lost Ark coming to Europe and North America soon, developer Smilegate RPG and publisher Amazon Games have been showing snippets of the game, giving us a look at what it’s all about. We recently got an overview, got a sneak peek at the world and lore of Arkesia, and now the developers have taken the wraps off character creation and customization.
Creating your own characters and making them truly your own is naturally a big deal in MMORPGs, where there are tons of players wandering the highways and trails, so you’ll want to stand out from the crowd. The good news is that The Lost Ark seems to have a lot of options. First, you choose one of the 15 classes available at launch. It consists of five base classes, including options like Warrior, Mage, Gunner, and a set of advanced classes.
After selecting this option, you’ll see some fancy, class-specific armor sets that you can work on as you progress through the game. Naturally, you’ll start with something more modest, but this view gives you an idea of where you’re going, and there are multiple options for each class. For the character’s appearance, you can start with the basics of one of many different presets, then adjust various options to customize facial features, shapes, and characteristics through basic and advanced settings.
For example, you can determine the overall makeup of a character’s face, using several sliders that let you adjust the eye, eyebrow, cheek, chin, nose, and mouth settings. So, what do you expect from a decent RPG character creator. There is also a wide variety of hairstyles, and some classes have access to other hairstyles specific to their class. There are also sliders to adjust aspects such as hair gloss, strength, length and tone of different layers. You can choose from more standard colors from the color wheel, or mix your own unique duotone creations.
The eyes also get extra attention, with plenty of options to customize each eye individually, add scars, special colors, different pupil sizes, and more. And then there are options like tattoos and war paint – some of which you can move around the character’s face – as well as beards and other things like that. Wow! The Lost Ark release date is set for February 11, 2022.
