Lost Ark will catch up to the Eastern version ‘quickly’
While Lost Ark has launched in several Western regions without some of the content in the Korean version, we’ll get relative parity sooner or later. In an interview with PCGamesN, Amazon Game Studios franchise head Soomin Park explained how the team is working with Smilegate RPG on post-launch content and what that means for players in the new Lost Ark region.
“The Lost Ark Western version will start off slightly behind the other releases, but will catch up quickly because of our post-launch content plans,” Park said. “There will always be some differences between the western and eastern versions of Lost Ark, although you’ll start to see more similarities in terms of what’s released for all players.”
One of the current major differences is the diversity of programs and majors. While the Western version of the game has 5 classes and 15 specializations to choose from, the Korean version has been out for 3 years. For example, we haven’t seen the Reaper and Artist specializations for the Assassin and Expert classes, respectively.
Amazon Games has previously explained that more of these classes are likely to appear in the upcoming roadmap, and the ability to play each class regardless of the character’s gender is another thing the team is working on. As of this writing, you can only have a fighter as male or a mage/assassin as female. While Amazon Games’ other released MMO New World has a PTR, don’t expect anything similar in Lost Ark.
“Player feedback is at the heart of how Amazon Games and Smilegate RPG build and serve games,” Park said. “We will continue to give players the opportunity to test content and express ideas, so we can refine each update as much as possible. At this time, we have no details on the public beta realm to share.”
While we don’t have a roadmap yet, we do know that The Lost Ark will get a new storyline and another big end-game event called “Abyss Raid” in the “Lost Ark” March Update.
