Marvel’s Defenders Saga Still Uncensored on Disney Plus, 4K Coming Soon

It’s been a tumultuous few weeks for fans of the Marvel series Defenders. Those shows are now officially in their new home on Disney+, though, and they’re there in all their full-blown glory — including head smashing and sex scenes, IGN has confirmed. The 4K version is also coming back soon, disney Say.
The Defenders saga of the show that started with Daredevil is undoubtedly no for kids. If it wasn’t obvious when Matt Murdoch rescued a group of women from human traffickers in the opening scene, it was undeniable when Wilson Fisk smashed a Russian thug’s head with the door of his SUV. Given that Disney+ is generally kid-friendly, fans are rightly concerned about whether Disney will adjust programming when it jumps from Netflix to Disney+.
IGN dug through all ten seasons of these shows, looking for differences, but found nothing. The team looks for the most intense moments on the show. This includes the aforementioned car scene, as well as sex scenes like Daredevil and Erica or Jessica Jones and Luke Cage throughout the series. Disney did add an age gate specifically for these shows, but it’s nice to confirm that they’re making the jump intact.

When it comes to keeping shows intact, some discerning viewers eager to rewatch them have noticed that they’re only available on the service in standard HD color and resolution — meaning no HDR and full 4K images. Disney confirmed, however, that this won’t last long when answering questions on Twitter.
“In order to deliver this much-anticipated content to Disney+ subscribers as quickly as possible, we chose to launch in HD/SDR, but a UHD release will be coming soon!” wrote DisneyPlusHelp. It doesn’t seem like it’s as simple as copying a few MP4 files from the Netflix folder to the Disney+ folder, but this and the aforementioned question about potential censorship is good news for fans of Marvel’s tougher side. Now that the previous PG-13-oriented service has an age limit, it also has a place to put things like Deadpool 3 and – if we’re lucky – more Daredevil.
