Marvel’s Space Police Rising Star Coming to the MCU – Report
According to Deadline, Marvel is bringing new stars to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Moon Knight minidrama writer Sabir Pirzada will write the screenplay for the project, which could be – as yet unknown – a feature film or a limited series.
Also, it hasn’t been revealed which version of the superhero the project might contain. According to Marvel’s own comprehensive superhero dossier, the character — whose civilian name is Richard Ryder — was drafted into the Nova Corps, “until the wave of oblivion destroyed them all, filling him with their union. power, and a computer under the direction of the superintelligent Worldmind.” In franchise lore, there is one version of the character who went through that disaster — and another, when the rider was in Cancer, a man named Sam Alexander The child is full of nova power (the reality of life finally triumphing over death).
Nova Corps was introduced in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, but other than that, there aren’t many breadcrumbs in the MCU that point to Nova’s story. Now, a new set of questions has arisen about Nova’s place in the franchise, its format, and the focus the project might take. Deadline didn’t reveal the source of this announcement, so we’ll be guessing for a while — aside from the fact that Marvel boss Kevin Feige will be making it, no doubt.
The Moon Knight series will premiere on Disney+ on March 30 and run through May 4.
