New Avatar Multiplayer Shooter Coming This Year
In addition to Ubisoft’s “Avatar: Pandora’s Frontier” and mobile game “Avatar: Pandora’s Rise”, the third video game based on the James Cameron film series has now been announced.
Avatar: Reckoning is a new MMORPG mobile shooter developed by Archosaur Games in partnership with Tencent, Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney.

Reckoning will release in 2022 for iOS and Android, taking players to parts of Pandora that didn’t appear in the movie. Players will encounter the Na’vi tribe, who are fighting to protect their homeland from RDA forces trying to seize their resources. The game can be played solo or multiplayer.
Players will create an Avatar character and engage in single-player story missions, co-op and PvP modes to build their character over time. Reckoning was developed using Unreal Engine 4 and promises “cutting edge visual effects”. So far, no gameplay footage has been released.
As for the Avatar franchise, the first of multiple planned sequels, Avatar 2, is scheduled to hit theaters this December. 2009’s “Avatar” was the most successful film in history, grossing $2.847 billion worldwide.
