New Indie Game: WASD Curios Featured

“Nothing is too weird or too small” may be true for the upcoming event WASD Curios, although you’re undoubtedly spoilt for choice when it comes to deciding which new indie game to check out first. That’s why we’re picking up a few for your attention at the start of this week’s show at London’s Tobacco Docks.
First, we have a virtual and mixed reality experience called the 7100AD: Air. Developer Yambe Tam told us that even though the game is set after Earth’s sixth mass extinction, the team refuted the classic depiction of an apocalyptic Earth withering away without humans. “It also doesn’t predict a natural Edenic recovery, as the impact of human civilization will continue long after we’re gone,” Tan explained. “Instead, it asks how life will evolve in response to the irreversible changes made to Earth during the Anthropocene.”
Next, we have a 3D platformer called Schim that makes you jump from shadow to shadow if you want to beat each level. Developer Ewoud van der Werf told us that the upcoming PC game is “inspired by childish playfulness that I think will resonate with a lot of people — jumping on the tiles on the sidewalk, in the lines or shadows of an intersection.”
Finally, we have a relaxing, contemplative mosaic-making game called Zellige: The Tilemaker of Granada. Set in medieval Andalus, you’ll explore Andalusian palaces, craft intricate mosaics, and find ways to make your mark on the world.
